The Central European Symposium for the Academic Study of Religion (CESAR) is a platform jointly guided by eight academic units of the Central European region engaged in religious studies scholarship. It aims to provide opportunities for scholars of religion, with a special focus on PhD and post-doc researchers, to meet and share their scholarship with each other as well as scholars from all parts of the world. Its flagship initiative is its yearly PhD conference hosted by one of the partner universities and organized by a steering committee comprised of representatives of all involved universities. It also aims to act as a platform beyond the conference and increase the presence of Central European researchers in Europe- and worldwide academic organizations of religious studies.
